Randy Strelow


            Randall Lee Strelow, son of Lyle, Sr. and Barbara Smith Strelow, was born September 2, 1960, at Waterloo, Iowa. He attended elementary school in Waterloo and graduated from Waverly Shell Rock High School in 1979. He served with the U.S. Air Force from 1980 to 1982. He then attended Hawkeye Tech in Waterloo where he received his degree in Police Science.

            On January 24, 1990, Randy was united in marriage with Kristie Bloem. They later divorced. Randy served as the policeman in Hawkeye from 1982 to 2002. He then worked at Ihde Trucking in Hawkeye prior to joining his friend, John Eberhart and forming Hartlow Trucking of Hawkeye.

            Randy’s death occurred on Wednesday, February 29, 2012, following an accident with another semi-trailer which occurred on Highway 18 in Chickasaw County. He was fifty-one years old and had attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Decorah. Among his favorite pastimes was competing in dart league at Jimmy D’s in Hawkeye.

            He is survived by two daughters, Krystal Strelow of Frederika and Shantel Strelow of Hawkeye; one brother, Lyle Strelow, Jr. of Hayward, Wisconsin; and three sisters, Katherine (Ronald) Rustad  and Debra Stevens, both of Decorah, and Lila Strelow of Cleveland Tennessee.

            He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 5, 2012, at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Hawkeye with Tom Schneider officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, March 4, 2012, at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Hawkeye and for one hour preceding services at the funeral home on Monday.

May it comfort you to know that others are deeply touched by your loss. God assures us at Psalms 34:18 that he is near to those broken in heart and those crushed in spirit he saves. Jesus also promises that we will be able to see our loved ones again. Jesus own words found at John 5:28,29 tells us there will be a resurrection. What a wonderful hope! God says that soon on the earth there will be no more pain, suffering and especially death at Revelation 21:3-5 We anxiously await the day when we will no longer lose those we love. May these bible thoughts bring you comfort at this most difficult time.
